International e-Government Conference was held in Ankara

ANKARA — International Conference on e-Government & e-Governance, organized by Turksat A.S., was held in Ankara on March 12-13, 2009 in the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
The inaugural speeches made by the President of Turksat A.S. Özkan Dalbay PhD, the President of Telecommunication Association Tayfun Acarar and the Undersecretary of the State Planning Association Halil Ibrahim Akça.

A great number of foreign delegates attended the event. During the two-day conference, there were 17 different sessions held in four separate halls. Over a hundred speakers participated from around the world (Turkey, England, Denmark, Ireland, India, Holland, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Australia, Austria, Germany, Iraq, France, Italy, Norway, Hungary, Poland, Albania, Macedonia, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Malaysia, Sweden, Spain, Finland, Azerbaijan, and USA). During those sessions, e-Government practices and problematics in Turkey, Europe, and other countries have been discussed.

As part of the conference, some other important issues have been dealt and presentations have been made concerning digital democracy, digital data security, e-Government practices in developing countries, e-Government experiences in local managements and daily life practices of e-Government. Also, an exhibition for e-Government Practices was held in Ankamall, the largest shopping center in Ankara.
