The African nation of Somalia is experiencing a historic drought that has left many without food and water. İn response, Intelsat S.A., the world’s leading provider of satellite services, is providing 20 days of free satellite capacity to satellite operator Turksat to assist in humanitarian relief efforts in Somalia. The capacity is being used by Turksat to offer emergency communications services to the International Federation of Red Cross and the Turkish Red Crescent. Turksat has set up a satellite antenna in the Red Crescent Operations Center in Mogadishu to support the delivery of these vital services. The Turkish Health Ministry will establish six field hospitals. Two of the hospitals are currently being established. All telephone and data communications services in the hospitals will be provided by Turksat. |
