Türksat and Roketsan signed a comprehensive cooperation protocol in the field of satellite launch systems and space technologies. With the protocol signed at IDEF 2025, joint projects will be implemented in a wide range of areas—from access to orbit to reusable launch systems, from communication infrastructure to human resources—in line with the goals of the National Space Program.
Türkiye’s satellite operator Türksat and Roketsan, one of the leading institutions of the defense industry, signed a significant cooperation within the scope of IDEF 2025. The protocol regarding joint work to be carried out in the field of satellite launch systems and space technologies was signed by Türksat CEO Ahmet Hamdi Atalay and Roketsan CEO Murat İkinci under the auspices of Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.
Speaking at the signing ceremony held at the IDEF 2025 signing area, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Uraloğlu emphasized that IDEF is an important organization where domestic and national products are exhibited, introduced to the world, and where the level achieved is demonstrated. Uraloğlu stated that the protocol signed between these two pioneering institutions of Türkiye is also important and noted that Roketsan is an institution synonymous with its name. Uraloğlu said, “Although it first brings to mind the defense industry, in fact, it carries out work in many different fields as well. We thank them for the services they have provided to our country so far. Especially, they show serious determination to carry the knowledge and experience they have gained in the defense industry into space studies as well. This is very valuable for us. Türksat, on the other hand, has taken very important steps to strengthen our country’s presence in space. With our domestic and national satellites, we are now also in space. Türksat has also made significant progress in communication security. Now, the knowledge and power that these two institutions possess have come together with this determination, and with the agreement signed today, it has turned into a concrete cooperation. We hope that this agreement will be an important beginning for joint work in the fields of space and communication.”
“Partnership Is a Source of Pride”
Türksat CEO Ahmet Hamdi Atalay said, “I am very pleased to be part of such an important partnership. It is a source of pride for us that this comprehensive cooperation agreement is being signed today. I would like to thank our Minister for accompanying us and also extend my gratitude to all the participants.”
Roketsan CEO Murat İkinci also stated that the protocol was a pleasing and exciting development for Roketsan, saying, “Hopefully, by carrying this cooperation further, we will ensure that our country takes its place at the forefront of the space race. Our goal is to overcome obstacles and elevate our country to higher levels.”
Partnership Aligned with the Goals of the National Space Program
The cooperation protocol signed foresees joint work in the fields of satellite communication systems, launch technologies, and access to orbit, in line with the “Access to Space and Establishment of a Spaceport” goal stated under Objective-4 of Türkiye’s National Space Program. Within the scope of the protocol, new architectures for communication infrastructure will be developed between Türksat satellites in orbit and the launch systems developed by Roketsan. Joint R&D projects will be carried out in high-tech areas, especially in satellite propulsion systems and reusable launch technologies. Cooperation will be established in the testing and integration processes of satellite and launch systems. In addition, coordinated efforts will be carried out to improve design and production capabilities, transfer technologies to industry, and use the developed products in current and future satellite projects. The protocol also includes the organization of joint training, workshops, and seminars to contribute to the training of human resources.
