Organized by the Turkish Informatics Association (TBD) and hosted by Türksat, the 33rd National Informatics Congress was held on December 8-9th 2016 at Ankara Sheraton Hotel.

At the opening ceremony, which Prime Minister, Binali Yıldırım also attended, Yasemin Özsoy, wife of Ahmet Özsoy and Osman Sefa Karslı, the son of Ali Karslı, both individuals who were made martyrs on the night of July 15th at Türksat, along with Türksat CEO, Cenk Şen were given the "Informatics and Democracy" award.
 
As part of the Congress’ The Hearing Impaired are Speaking: "No Obstacles in e-Government" panel, Günay Bozkurt, personnel of Satellite Services Marketing and Planning Directorate, as well as Sami Yenice, personnel of e-Government and Information Society Directorate, made their attendance as speakers with moderation by Nihat Kihtir, also personnel of e-Government and Information Society Directorate.

The project "No Obstacles in e-Government” was deemed worthy of an award in the e-Government category which was given at the Informatics 2016 Service Awards as part of the congress’ closing session. On behalf of Türksat, Vice President Halil Yeşilçimen accepted the reward.
 
In addition, participants were able to view the Türksat July 15th Photography Exhibition which was set up in the event area.
