  • 1968

    The Satellite Telecommunications Group Chief Engineering Office was established within the PTT General Directorate.

  • 1968

    Türkiye became a member of the Intelsat (International Telecommunications Satellite Organization). In the same year, the first telephone channels via satellite were established jointly using ground stations in Yugoslavia and Iran.

  • 23 April 1979

    Our first satellite ground station, AKA-1 (Ankara-1), was commissioned with 11 telephone channels established with the United Kingdom. With the launch of AKA-1, communication was provided with 13 countries via Intelsat’s Atlantic region satellites.

  • 10 April 1985

    A fiber optic cable system increasing communication channel capacity was installed underground between Ankara (Ulus) and the Gölbaşı Satellite Ground Center for the first time, operating at 1310 nm wavelength with a capacity of 140 Mb/s.

  • November 1985

    The AKA-2 ground station, operating under the Eutelsat system, was commissioned.

  • 4 March 1987

    The first satellite-based video conference in Europe was conducted in Türkiye.

  • 21 December 1990

    A contract for the “Türksat National Communication Satellites” was signed with the French company Aerospatiale.

  • 11 August 1994

    Türkiye’s Türksat 1B communication satellite was launched into space and successfully positioned at 42° East orbit.

  • 10 October 1994

    Türksat 1B entered service following orbital testing.

  • 10 July 1996

    Türkiye’s second satellite, Türksat 1C, was launched and positioned at 31.3° East orbit.

  • 7 November 1996

    The establishment agreement of Eurasiasat — founded as a partnership between Aerospatiale (manufacturer of Türksat satellites) and Türk Telekom — was signed.

  • 15 November 1996

    The company began operations under the name Eurasiasat S.A.M., responsible for the production of the Türksat 2A (Eurasiasat 1) satellite and the marketing of satellite services.

  • 11 January 2001

    Türksat 2A (Eurasiasat 1) satellite manufactured by Eurasiasat company established in partnership with Türk Telekom and Alcatel company launched by Ariane 4 rocket from Kourou Base in South America.

  • 22 July 2004

    To carry out satellite communication services under a new corporate structure, Türksat A.Ş. was established under Law No. 5189.

  • 13 June 2008

    The Türksat 3A communication satellite was launched from French Guiana at 01:05 via an Ariane 5 rocket and positioned at 42° East orbit.

  • 26 April 2013

    Türkiye’s first domestically designed and manufactured low Earth orbit communication satellite, Türksat-3USAT, was launched into space from

    Türksat 4A was launched from Baikonur, Kazakhstan, aboard a Proton rocket.

  • 16 October 2015

    The Türksat 4B communication satellite was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan aboard a Proton Breeze M rocket and positioned at 50° East orbit.

    Türksat 4B haberleşme uydusu, Kazakistan'daki Baykonur Uzay Üssünden Proton Breeze M roketiyle fırlatılarak 50° Doğu yörüngesine yerleştirildi.

  • December 19, 2021

    The Türksat 5A communication satellite was launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in the United States aboard a Falcon 9 rocket and positioned at 31° East orbit.

  • July 9, 2024

    Türkiye’s first domestically developed national communication satellite, Türksat 6A, was launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in the United States aboard a Falcon 9 rocket.
