Türksat signed important cooperation agreements at the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) 2026, the world's most prestigious in-flight technology fair, that eliminate the barriers to in-flight connectivity (IFC) access.
The Aircraft Interiors Equipment Fair (AIX 2026), one of the world's largest aviation fairs, was held at Hamburg Messe. Türksat, with its General Manager Ahmet Hamdi Atalay and Deputy General Manager of Satellite Services Dr. Selman Demirel among others, participated in the fair at a high level and signed important memoranda of understanding. First, a comprehensive cooperation agreement was made between Türksat, Viasat and SKYFive Arabia to develop next-generation in-flight connectivity solutions in the aviation sector. Within the scope of this agreement, Türksat will develop a national "air-to-ground" (A2G) network throughout Turkey to support in-flight connectivity services for aviation customers operating within Turkish airspace. The aim of this developed network is to complement satellite-based IFC solutions, provide low-latency and high-capacity broadband connectivity, and increase service continuity for aircraft transitioning between regional coverage areas. With this agreement, customers using SKYFive's air-to-ground (A2G) network and Viasat's integrated satellite and complementary ground component connected European Aviation Network (EAN) customers will gain direct access to Türksat's network in Turkish airspace. Integration between the systems will also be ensured as all three networks will use the common S-band spectrum. By joining the existing collaboration between Türksat, Viasat, and SKYFive, Türksat will also act as a bridge between East and West by connecting the investments made by Viasat and SKYFive in the A2G IFC field. Commenting on the agreement, Türksat Deputy General Manager Dr. [Name] stated... Selman Demirel stated, “Türksat is committed to supporting advanced and commercially practical connectivity solutions for the aviation sector. We believe this collaboration can help create a stronger framework for cross-border service continuity and support the evolving connectivity needs of commercial airlines, private aviation operators, and other aviation customers flying between Turkey, the Middle East, and Europe.”
Memorandum of Understanding with TCI Aircraft Interiors and Neo Space Group
Türksat A.Ş., TCI Aircraft Interiors, and Neo Space Group (NSG), who came together at AIX 2026, reached a cooperation agreement to offer next-generation in-flight internet solutions in the aviation sector. With this tripartite agreement, complementary competencies across satellite capacity, multi-orbit connectivity, and in-flight systems will be combined under one roof to provide end-to-end integrated IFC solutions to airlines. With this agreement, the companies will integrate GEO (Earth Synchronous), MEO (Medium Orbit), and future LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellite networks to provide seamless global coverage in different routes and regions. Thanks to integration, a stable and high-performance passenger experience will be offered regardless of flight route, while eliminating airlines' dependence on a single orbit or provider. Designed to support both linefit and retrofit programs in both commercial aviation and business jet markets, the system includes installation models fully compatible with airline fleet strategies. Enabling the dynamic combination of capacity and services between infrastructures through network-to-network integration, the first aircraft integrated with this high-data transmission capacity solution is planned to enter service in the first quarter of 2027.
