Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Cahit Turhan stated that some services were being offered over the internet and the phone, by establishments connected and affiliated to the ministry. He noted, “In order to slow the spread of the new type of Coronavirus, COVID-19, we have added new services to existing services, which were being provided over the internet and the phone. We will continue our efforts to protect citizens until the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic decreases.”

Minister Turhan in his statement made to a state agency news reporter, stated that in order to support the call made for “Turkey to stay home,” which started because of COVID-19 pandemic, they gave the order for services affiliated with the ministry to be offered over the internet and the telephone.

Turhan who noted that in order for information and communication technologies to be delivered in an effective and efficient manner to citizens, businesses and public institutions, the e-Government Portal was put into effect to deliver these public services, and in this context, as of today, about 46 million registered uses are offered 5,023 services by 649 institutions and organizations, he added that 2,524 service were being offered via mobile.

Turhan underlined that on a daily bases over 12 million transactions are being carried out through the e-Government Portal, of which the most popular services are the 4A Service Breakdown offered by the Social Security Institution, Court Case Inquiry offered by the Ministry of Justice, Tax Debt Inquiry offered by the Revenue Administration, Tickets Written to License Plates Inquiry offered by the General Directorate of Security, Unpaid Debt Collection Case Inquiry offered by the Ministry of Justice, Registered Land Inquiry offered by the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre, 5 Day Weather Forecast offered by the General Directorate of Meteorology and 4A Monthly Retirement Information offered by the Social Security Institution.

Services have started to be provided online

Turhan who explained that as part of measures taken to prevent the spreading of COVID-19, certain services have started to be provided through the e-Government Portal and certain services have started to be provided through the phone. He added, “In order to slow the spread of COVID-19, we have added new services to existing services which were being provided over the internet and the phone by establishments connected and affiliated to the ministry. These new services are also being provided the e-Government Portal. Some of our services have also started to be made available online by internet sites.”

Remote Learning offered through Türksat-4A satellite

By noting that elementary, secondary and high school education will be provided remotely by the Ministry of Education through EBA TV starting March 23, Minister Turhan underlined the fact that this service is being offered through Türksat and its 4A satellite.

Turhan stated that for EBA TV, through TRT on 2 different frequencies and 6 different channels, broadcast is being realized via Türksat-4A satellite and satellite communication systems, he added that three of them will be broadcasted in HD resolution whereas the other three will be in SD resolution.
