For the first two days of Ramadan, Türksat met up with people from Pristina, Skenderaj, Mitrovica of Kosovo to break the Ramadan fast together. Türksat participated in the organization, which is traditionally organized by the Eyüp Sultan Foundation every year. Enormous tents were set up for the dinner, where nearly 2 thousand people shared the joy of breaking fast together.

After the recital from the Holy Koran and call of prayer, the tent filled with Kosovo Turks, Albanian and Bosnian Muslims broke fast together for the first breaking of the fast dinner of Ramadan.

Kosovo’s Minister of Environment- Ferid Agani, Turkey’s Ambassador to Pristina- Kıvılcım Kılıç, Norway’s Ambassador to Pristina- Iann Bratu, The Turkish International Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) Kosovo’s Coordinator- Eyüp Yavuz Ümütlü, Turksat’s General Manager- Cenk Şen and other representatives from Turkish and Kosovar establishments were in attendance at the dinner.

General Manager Mr. Şen spoke at the event, and noted that it was an honor to have contributed to this organization and went on to say:

“To be part of, and take role in such a beneficial event, being able to share what we have even if it’s just a little, and to carry the idea over here fills us with pride. As Türksat we have been contributing to this wonderful event for 5 years and wish to continue our support for the upcoming years in the same manner. As our religion commands, we believe that by sharing what we have, we will gain more.”

Minister Mr. Agani noted that the holy month of Ramadan provides Muslims with wonderful things that are not easy to explain and went on to say that breaking of the fast with our Turkish brothers and sisters added great importance to the night. “The month of Ramadan is a month where we prove our commitment to God and where we prove that our spiritual values outweigh our materialistic values.”

Ambassador Mr. Kılıç noted that Ramadan helps one realize emotions regarding brotherhood, solidarity, coming together and sharing. Mr. Kılıç said “Ramadan is a prosperous month. Ramadan is a month about mercy, forgiveness, and salvation. Hopefully, everyone will benefit greatly from the prosperity that this month brings.”

Eyüp Sultan Foundation’s Board Member and Coordinator for the Balkans Mr. İskender Yanovalı reminded everyone that the foundation has been setting up a Ramadan tent in Kosovo for 10 years “Hopefully, for many years to come the Eyüp Sultan Foundation will continue this organization with our Kosovar friends.”
