Türksat A.Ş., which has been strengthening its expertise in space and satellite technologies through international collaborations, has entered a new partnership with Azercosmos, Azerbaijan’s satellite telecommunications company. Following discussions held during the Central Eurasia Space Technologies Conference (STC-2025), the two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering cooperation in geographic information systems, space technologies, project management, and related technical fields.
The Central Eurasia Space Technologies Conference (STC-2025), which brings together national space agencies, satellite operators, and industry stakeholders from the Central Eurasia region, kicked off in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The two-day conference focuses on the impact of space and satellite technologies on regional development, and Türksat participated with a large delegation.
At the Türksat booth set up in the event’s exhibition area, visitors were introduced to Türksat’s domestic and national satellite solutions, advanced communication technologies, and comprehensive service portfolio. Guests had the opportunity to learn about a wide range of technological solutions, from Türksat’s National Communications Satellite Türksat 6A to its satellite communication infrastructure, e-Government applications, television broadcasting services, and geographic information systems.
Throughout the conference, Türksat’s booth hosted strategic meetings and opened the door to new cooperation opportunities. By sharing the current level of its domestic technology production with international companies, Türksat once again demonstrated its vision of expanding partnerships, particularly within the Eurasian region.
A New Chapter Between Two Companies
Following bilateral meetings held during the conference, a cooperation agreement was signed between Türksat Deputy General Manager of Satellite Services Dr. Selman Demirel and Azercosmos Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Fuad Aslanov. The agreement outlines long-term collaboration between the two institutions in technical, operational, and strategic areas.
Under the framework of the agreement, both sides aim to develop joint projects in geographic information systems, space technologies, and space project management. They also plan to increase mutual knowledge and experience sharing, and to promote initiatives that will provide mutual benefits in satellite telecommunications.
In addition, the agreement foresees intensified consultations on topics such as radio frequency management and regulatory compliance at both regional and international levels. Through this strategic agreement, Türksat and Azercosmos also aim to strengthen cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan in the fields of space and communications technologies.
Satellite Spectrum Discussed in Detail
Türksat also had a strong presence in the panel sessions held during the conference. Türksat’s Director of Satellite Technologies, Veli Yanıkgönül, participated as a speaker in the session titled “Satellite Spectrum: Sharing, Management, Protection, and Monitoring.”
In his presentation, Yanıkgönül shared insights on the frequency management processes of Türksat’s communications satellites in orbit, GEO–LEO spectrum sharing, coordination strategies, and Türksat’s technical expertise in these areas. He also addressed policies for protecting national spectrum rights, frequency planning in next-generation satellite projects, and the strategic role Türksat plays in international coordination efforts.
